The Tubalado Family Badge of Forbearance

FAMILY EMBLEM

The Sample Family Badge honors an art form meant to be cherished and embraced as a family tradition. These badges make thoughtful gifts for family and friends, with versatile designs that are sure to impress and suit anyone's taste. This particular sample for Eusebio & Crispolo Camp features two brothers, a fishing boat, two paddles, fishnets, decorative fish, spiritual light orbs, and a baby, symbolizing the new way of life they have embraced to thrive.

The Baby symbolizes the brothers' resilience to survive, learn, and adapt to a new way of life, as they taught themselves to fish. Lacking the knowledge, they attempted to catch fish with their bare hands, much like a baby learning through trial and error. Their interaction with local inhabitants, practices, and surroundings gave them an elemental sense of life, one that felt more animistic compared to their previous existence in Moalboal.

Even today, these elemental experiences can be revisited with a simple bit of fact-checking on your own. Just after sundown and a light rain shower, you might catch sight of one or two bluish lights dancing over the Tañon Strait. Fix your gaze halfway between the horizon, the Canlaon Mountains, and the seashore where you stand. Be prepared for goosebumps and a tingling sensation at the back of your neck that might creep up for no obvious reason.

"Dosbela" is a sailboat the Brothers use for trading across the Strait to Negros, Moalboal, and Sipaway Island. In the past, these shorelines were easily accessible with this type of boat, making the Tanon Strait a vital lifeline for relatives, family, and friends to barter and trade. To protect it from water surges and storms, the boat was stored under the ancestral home, about two hundred yards from the shore.

A Tale of Two Brothers

Second Grand 1

In May 2014, at Louie Beach Resort in Tajao, Pinamungajan, Cebu, the Eusebio & Crispolo Clan held their second grand reunion! “The road is long with many a winding turn that leads us to who knows where? Who knows when?” - He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother. It all began with two brothers who journeyed to Bato, Toledo, laying the foundation for the two clans in this area before expanding to Negros, Bohol, Manila, other parts of Cebu Province, and Florida. Two sons of Crispolo, Nicanor and Prudencio, grew up fishing the waters of Tañon Strait, where Louie Beach is located. Prudencio later shared a memorable experience in an unpublished piece he submitted to ‘Visits From The Beyond Magazine’ on February 25, 1985. Here’s an excerpt: “When the storm had calmed, we saw balls of bluish-white light several kilometers away, rolling across the sea as if chasing one another. Nicanor explained to his younger brother, 'Those are spiritual lights, and they usually appear after heavy rains.' Curious, Prudencio asked, 'Why spiritual lights?' Nicanor replied, 'They are the spirits of people who drowned, were buried, or were killed at sea!'” Feel free to share your own family tale about two brothers!
